	 MACMO

El Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Montevideo (MACMO) es un espacio para ensayar formas de pensar el arte contemporáneo.&#38;nbsp; Es una práctica artística que investiga y pone en marcha formas alternativas de institucionalidad. Utiliza estructuras, dinámicas, alianzas y terminologías institucionales y en simultáneo procede bajo la lógica de un proyecto autónomo, lo que permite su cambio de forma constante.

El espacio del MACMO se compone simbólicamente de los diferentes sitios en los que desarrolla sus actividades tanto en la ciudad de Montevideo que es donde se origina, como en cualquier otro lugar del país o la región. El devenir del museo por tanto es permeable a diferentes territorios y contextos.

El MACMO es un proyecto creado por Agustina Rodríguez y Eugenia González y participan colaboradores en sus diferentes instancias.

La imagen gráfica como proceso.

La historia del grabado está atravesada por una paradoja: aquellos rasgos que definen su especificidad —la reproducción, la multiplicidad, el oficio y la mediación técnica— fueron, a la vez, los que muchas veces lo ubicaron en un lugar desplazado dentro de las jerarquías artísticas que privilegiaron la obra única, el original y la autoría como gesto irrepetible. Pero son justamente esas condiciones las que permiten reconocer su potencia más singular. Frente a esos modelos de valoración, la gráfica sostuvo otra relación con la imagen: diferida, procesual, material y colectiva. 

A partir de la noción de literatura menor formulada por Deleuze y Guattari, la imagen gráfica puede pensarse como una práctica menor. No por una condición de inferioridad, sino por su capacidad de alterar desde adentro las jerarquías de la imagen. Así como la literatura menor desestabiliza una lengua mayor desde un uso desplazado de esa lengua, el grabado introduce otros modos de producir la imagen desde la repetición, la variación y la circulación. Lo menor, en este sentido, es una potencia crítica que abre la posibilidad de volver inestable aquello que parecía fijo. 

Esta muestra parte de esa zona de tensión y despliega obras, matrices y herramientas de la colección del Museo Nacional del Grabado, junto con materiales provenientes de su archivo y biblioteca, y obras de artistas invitados. En este cruce entre patrimonio histórico, prácticas contemporáneas y una propuesta de montaje que incorpora recursos reproductivos y espaciales, se propone mirar la gráfica como un campo de operaciones activo.

Toda imagen gráfica supone una distancia. Entre la matriz y la estampa hay un pasaje, la imagen se transfiere, cambia de soporte, pierde y gana. La estampa repite, pero nunca de manera idéntica. En esa diferencia mínima, a veces visible y otras casi imperceptible, la gráfica vuelve a pensar la imagen como acontecimiento.

Organizada en tres núcleos —Matrices y huellas, Lo manual y lo mecánico y Fronteras móviles—, En diferido propone observar el grabado como una forma de construir imágenes que no se agota en el resultado final, sino que deja ver los pasos, las mediaciones y las mutaciones que hacen posible su existencia.

	Procesos gráficos


Este diagrama se ubica en la pared de inicio de la exposición En diferido. La imagen gráfica como proceso y reúne técnicas y procedimientos gráficos manuales, mecánicos, industriales, fotomecánicos y digitales, desde procesos históricos hasta prácticas contemporáneas. Aunque tienen materialidades y lógicas distintas, muchos comparten operaciones como transferir, grabar, copiar, imprimir, repetir o desplazar. El esquema es parcial y está abierto a revisión: invitamos al público a intervenir señalando omisiones, errores, relaciones posibles, elementos que sobran o modificaciones que permitan seguir pensando la gráfica como un campo en movimiento. 

La exposición propone entender la gráfica y el grabado como prácticas procesuales y en movimiento, atravesadas por desplazamientos temporales y espaciales. La matriz como origen, la estampa como traducción variable y las expansiones del grabado hacia nuevos territorios evidencian un campo en transformación. El título En diferido alude a la idea de différance formulada por Jacques Derrida: aquello que difiere en el tiempo y en el espacio, lo que nunca está completamente presente sino siempre mediado. En este sentido, el proyecto entiende la gráfica como un medio de traducción constante, donde cada impresión hay una nueva versión de la imagen.

La serie invita a artistas a destruir una obra propia. A partir de la idea de que la destrucción no cancela sino que abre espacio para lo nuevo, cada acción se planifica considerando la materialidad de la obra, las fuerzas históricas, simbólicas o afectivas y la elección del método de destrucción. El proceso se desarrolla en diálogo con Agustina Rodríguez y Eugenia González, quienes conciben y ejecutan junto al artista la destrucción.&#38;nbsp; Cada destrucción deviene así en una nueva obra co-autorada.

PliegueCuraduría - Edición -&#38;nbsp; Diseño de montaje


Pliegue propone colaboraciones curatoriales, editoriales y de montaje para proyectos artísticos, publicaciones y exhibiciones.

Trabaja desde una perspectiva situada, atendiendo a las condiciones específicas de cada proyecto y entendiendo la curaduría, la edición y el montaje como formas de construir relaciones entre obras, textos, espacios y personas.

Le interesa especialmente el trabajo de proceso: los ensayos, pruebas, conversaciones, desplazamientos y decisiones a través de los cuales una idea comienza a materializarse.

El pliegue nombra esa zona de trabajo: una operación en la que ideas, materiales y decisiones se superponen, se afectan y empiezan a producir otra forma. 

Cada colaboración se organiza de acuerdo con la escala, los tiempos y las posibilidades concretas de producción de cada proyecto.

Prácticas observación/conservación en el MNG


Conservar no es simplemente preservar objetos del pasado. Es un trabajo concreto, persistente, que implica tomar decisiones materiales y conceptuales sobre lo que se guarda, cómo se guarda y por qué. En el Museo Nacional del Grabado, este trabajo se realiza sobre un acervo compuesto, en su mayoría, por obras sobre papel: soportes frágiles, porosos, extremadamente sensibles al entorno y al paso del tiempo.

Conservar, en este contexto, exige atención al detalle, paciencia, conocimiento técnico, pero también una disposición a observar de cerca, a perseguir rastros mínimos: una mancha, una tinta desplazada, un corte irregular, un cambio en la textura. Es una tarea que requiere otra velocidad, otro tipo de mirada.

Por eso reunimos esta serie de imágenes para cambiar el punto de vista al que estamos acostumbrados al ver las obras. Veremos su materialidad y lo que el papel revela cuando se observa de cerca: bordes desgastados, estructuras internas, huellas de manipulación, reacciones químicas. 

También gestos que sostienen el trabajo cotidiano de conservación: limpieza, clasificación -atendiendo a múltiples variables-, sistemas de guarda y almacenamiento, registros. Cada una de estas acciones implica tiempo, observación, formación y atención sostenida. Son el núcleo de un trabajo que mantiene vivo el vínculo entre los objetos y las historias que portan.

Se trata de publicaciones en proceso que buscan compartir una forma de trabajo que se construye en el hacer diario y sostenido. Una práctica situada que, al cuidar los objetos, también cuida las historias que los atraviesan. También propone compartir una mirada detenida, atenta a los signos mínimos, a los tiempos lentos, a las formas que sostienen el cuidado.

52° Premio Montevideo de Artes Visuales

Las obras de la 52ª edición del Premio Montevideo de Artes Visuales perciben la fragilidad de un mundo que ya no logra sostener sus propias formas. Imágenes, cuerpos y perspectivas se ven tensionados por una fatiga estructural que atraviesa lo tecnológico, lo afectivo y lo político.
A través de sus distintos núcleos, la exhibición traza un recorrido que va del cuerpo como territorio de transformación, a las tramas que organizan y controlan la vida contemporánea, los desvíos en los relatos del poder y la precariedad del habitar.

Este registro distópico es una forma de lucidez. Desde distintas experiencias y lenguajes, lxs artistas interrogan los modos en que habitamos la crisis que afecta todos los planos de la existencia, las precariedades institucionales y laborales, los vacíos históricos y los silenciamientos que las sostienen. La sensación de agotamiento que recorre la exposición proviene del sistema, pero repercute directamente sobre las personas, afectando los modos de imaginar futuros.Pero si la crisis es el medio en el que existimos, ¿qué capacidad tiene el arte para sostener la vida, aun en su desgaste? En el marco de este Premio, esta constelación de obras se ofrece como un termómetro de época y un laboratorio perceptivo donde se ensayan modos de estar en tiempos en que la estabilidad ya no es una opción.¿Y qué hace el arte cuando las estructuras colapsan? Insiste. Produce formas comunes, abre tiempo donde no lo hay, inventa un nuevo lugar. Desde esos gestos casi imperceptibles, genera alianzas improbables y habilita espacios para otros modos de existencia.

Deseo, dolor, tecnología y sus automatismos, memoria, cada una en distintas escalas de nivel e intensidad, modelan y tensionan el devenir de los cuerpos y su percepción como una materia atravesada por la inestabilidad y el cambio constante. Algo que muta y perdura al mismo tiempo. Esas mudanzas abren nuevas posibilidades para pensar la vida y sus continuidades.

Los sistemas que organizan la vida contemporánea en sus dimensiones económica, simbólica, política, laboral y afectiva exhiben sus zonas opacas y errores de paralaje cuando se intersectan con realidades escurridizas de lo humano y lo vivo. En ese punto de fragilidad, desgaste y saturación los mecanismos dejan de ser invisibles y revelan su crisis de sentido.

Es atravesando multiplicidades que emergen las contradicciones en los acuerdos que sostienen la configuración del mundo como unidad y totalización. Una visión astillada del mundo también necesita observar las zonas de contacto de lo múltiple: las variaciones de espesor de los límites, los espacios de conexión en los bordes.

Cuerpo, entorno y vida se enlazan en territorios donde lo cotidiano se desajusta y lo estable se disuelve. En esa convivencia, el movimiento y la transformación aparecen como persistencia. Lo vivo ensaya su continuidad en medio del cambio. La fragilidad del habitar atraviesa el presente. El desplazamiento se revela, entonces, como modo de existencia.

Premio Montevideo de Artes VisualesEdiciones de una escena en transformación

El PMAV continúa una trayectoria iniciada en 1940 con la creación del Primer Salón Municipal de Artes Plásticas. En sus primeras instancias fue definido como “salón venta”, y el certamen articuló exhibición, premiación y adquisición de obras, dando origen al acervo público que hoy custodia el Museo Juan Manuel Blanes.

En ese mismo año, la lectura crítica de Jorge Romero Brest -crítico y teórico de arte argentino- a través de sus distinciones y criterios de valor, produjo un marco desde el cual pensar la escena. Mientras los textos del ámbito local, como el de Cipriano Vitureira -escritor y crítico cultural uruguayo- en la revista de la AIAPE (Agrupación de Intelectuales, Artistas, Periodistas y Escritores), lo inscribieron en un proceso cultural más amplio, ligado a la emergencia de una sensibilidad moderna y americana. En ese cruce empezó a construirse el relato sobre su propio sentido.

La historia del certamen está trazada por cambios de nombre, formatos, reformulaciones y pausas. Salón Municipal, Salón de Otoño, Salón Bienal, Salón de Artes Visuales y, desde 2017, Premio Montevideo de Artes Visuales fueron sus distintas denominaciones.

Durante décadas, las disciplinas artísticas tradicionales, como pintura, escultura, grabado y dibujo, organizaron la presentación y evaluación de las obras. La expansión de los lenguajes contemporáneos volvió insuficiente ese esquema y dio lugar a la incorporación de video, instalaciones, proyectos e intervenciones y a su posterior borramiento como compartimentos de producción.

En estos procesos también se hacen visibles desigualdades estructurales en la participación de mujeres y disidencias. Si bien en las últimas ediciones se registra un crecimiento sostenido en las instancias de selección, la presencia aún no resulta equitativa en relación con la cantidad de artistas que producen en el medio, aunque se valora el incremento y la ampliación de las formas de representación.

Algunos episodios de la trayectoria del premio marcaron puntos de inflexión. En 1963, la ocupación del Subte por parte de artistas, en un clima de radicalización cultural y de cuestionamiento a los mecanismos institucionales del salón, abrió un período de interrupción del certamen y puso en crisis el modelo de oficialismo artístico vigente. La reapertura de 1966, en ese marco de reformulación, habilitó el ingreso de nuevos lenguajes y evidenció que el salón era también un espacio de disputa en torno a sus formas de legitimación y a los criterios desde los cuales leer el presente artístico.

Décadas más tarde, en 1998, la intervención de Diego Masi sobre el monumento El Entrevero, aprobada por el jurado y luego discutida públicamente, desplazó el certamen hacia el espacio urbano y evidenció las tensiones entre experimentación artística y patrimonio.

En otro plano, vinculado a las condiciones de participación, desde 2023 se incorporó un aporte económico para la producción de cada uno de los proyectos seleccionados, desplazando la lógica exclusiva del premio como única forma de retribución y configurando un cambio en el modelo histórico del certamen, en sintonía con una política orientada a la profesionalización y al fortalecimiento del campo artístico.

En esta sala se presenta una selección de catálogos históricos junto con reproducciones de sus páginas interiores. Leídos en conjunto, estos documentos permiten tener un panorama de las distintas etapas del premio. Cada catálogo registra una edición, pero también una posición de época, institucional y estética y, en muchos casos, es lo que permanece y nos permite trazar su relato.
